UPDATE: Auburn Police Department investigating fatal traffic accident on Hwy 29 South

UPDATE, Aug. 26:

Auburn, Ala. - On Aug. 25, 2024, Auburn Police arrested Wesley Denzel Lindsey, age 30, from Auburn, AL on a grand jury indictment charging him with manslaughter.

The arrest stems from the investigation that was initiated by the previously reported traffic fatality that occurred on Oct. 26, 2023. Auburn Police gathered evidence indicating that the driver of sole vehicle involved, Wesley Denzel Lindsey, recklessly caused the death of the victim, who was a pedestrian.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the Lee County District Attorney presented the case to a grand jury, which resulted in the indictment for the charge of manslaughter.

Police located Lindsey on Aug. 25, 2024, and he was arrested in obedience to the grand jury indictment.

Lindsey was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $25,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Auburn, Ala. - On Oct. 26, 2023, Auburn Police responded to the area of Highway 29 S and Distribution Dr in reference to a traffic accident involving a pedestrian. First responders located the victim suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Life saving measures were performed but were unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was later identified as a 36-year-old female from Auburn.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The case remains under investigation by Auburn Police.
